Border crossers: these are people who do things differently than you’d expect, whether in life or in art. Mathilda, Janne, Emily and Helene from Schenefeld Gymnasium School in Hamburg chat with host Anne about one such musical trailblazer: the fascinating cellist Abel Selaocoe. What sets him apart from other cellists? What does his playing sound like? And how do they feel about it? Janne also shares some background on Abel and Ensemble Resonanz. Together, they are presenting a vibrant mix of music from various genres and eras at the school concert on 13 June 2025 at the Elbphilharmonie.
To dive even deeper, the pupils speak with Saerom Park, a cellist from Ensemble Resonanz. She talks about her early days in music, her inspirations, Abel’s unique style and her friendship with him. Afterwards, you can test your knowledge in the »Kopfhörer« quiz on »Border Crossers«. Janne also shares some great related music recommendations. Have fun listening!
